rImg

rImg doesn't use a JavaScript-based resizing technique to force the image to display at a desired size.

Instead it relies on a CSS background image declaration and basic image replacement techniques.

Depending on the user's current viewport size, the image's source path is adjusted and a picture at an appropriate height and width is loaded, taking into account the maximum viewport width size and the user's preferred aspect ratio.

The rImg jQuery plugin also works with browser-resize events.

rImg comes with a basic demo to show developers how it can be implemented.

Requirements:

• JavaScript enabled on client side
• jQuery

Limitations:

• Doesn't work in IE 8 and lower.
