GNOME Directory Thumbnailer (gnome-directory-thumbnailer) is an open source command-line utility for the GNOME desktop environment, designed to as a tool to generate a thumbnail for a given directory.
GNOME Directory Thumbnailer is intended to be called by the thumbnailer code of the gnome-desktop package, but it can also be called manually via a Linux Terminal.
Usage:
Basic usage:
gnome-directory-thumbnailer path/to/directory output-thumbnail.png
Specifying the maximum thumbnail dimensions:
gnome-directory-thumbnailer dir out.png -s 200
The latter will allow the maximum width and height to be specified in pixels. This utility works only with the GNOME desktop environment.
