jQuery Image Upload works in an unique fashion, since it can work without an upload input field.
The widget can optionally use a placeholder image, which when hovered shows buttons for selecting a new image, uploading it, or deleting the existing one.
Since the uploaded image automatically replaced the previous (placeholder) image, these buttons will continue to show, permitting the user to reupload a new photo until he is satisfied with the result.
jQuery Image Upload also comes with support for automatically starting the upload process when the image is selected, showing a classic upload section, custom upload paths, and showing a loading animation while the photo is sent to the server.
The plugin only handles the client-side operations. For actually handling the image upload, a server-side component is needed (not included with the plugin).
A demo and usage instructions are included with the download package.
