Linux File Renamer

Linux File Renamer is a freely distributed GNU/Linux utility designed from the ground up to allow you to easily and quickly rename several files that are stored in multiple directories and subdirectories, from the comfort of your Linux desktop.

Allows you to add text strings

Users will be able to add text strings to the file name as suffix or prefix. In addition, the Linux File Renamer utility supports string replacements in file names. Furthermore, the application lets users to effortlessly add files and folders onto its main window by dragging them.

Can rename single or multiple files

Linux File Renamer can rename multiple (batch mode) or single files, with only a few mouse clicks. It features a single-window graphical user interface (GUI) that cannot be resized and includes two main areas, the file listing area on the top, where you can drop the file(s) you want to rename, and the bottom area for advanced settings.

Besides listing all the files that will be renamed, the top area will displays the current name of the file(s), as well as the new file name of the file(s). From the bottom area, you can view file path previews, add prefix and suffix or use the find and replace functionality to rename files.

In addition, there are four buttons on the bottom right corner of the window, allowing you to add a folder that contains all the files you want to rename, reset all the parameters, clear the file list area, as well as to start the renaming process.

Supported OSes and availability

At the moment, Linux File Renamer is a free application, which means that no source code is provided. It can be downloaded as a pre-built binary package optimized only for 64-bit GNU/Linux systems. While it has been designed especially for the KDE desktop environment, it works well with several other open-source DEs (tested on Cinnamon and GNOME).
