Electric is an open source, complete and graphical Electronic Design Automation (EDA) system written in the Java programming language.
The Electric VLSI Design System is designed to handle many forms of circuit design, including: custom IC layout, schematic capture (digital and analog), textual languages, such as Verilog and VHDL, programmable logic (FPGAs), and much more.
Being written in Java, Electric is a platform-independent application, supporting Linux/UNIX, Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X operating systems. Electric is an official GNU package.
The Oracle Corporation supports the development process of the Electric software.
