net-tnsping

This is not a wrapper for the tnsping utility, but performs two actions: attempts to ping the database using the appropriate port via TCP and attempts to make a connection using a bogus name and password, looking for error ORA-1017.

What is new in this release:

• Now allows hyphens in hostnames.
• Minor updates to the Rakefile and test suite.

What is new in version 1.3.1:

• Switched test-unit from a runtime dependency to a development dependency.
• Minor documentation updates.

Requirements:

• Ruby 1.8.0 or higher
• dbi
• net-ping 1.0.0 or higher
• Any of the Oracle database drivers (oracle, oci8, ruby9i, etc)
