Apache Shindig was developed in two languages: Java and PHP. Currently only the Java version is still being developed.
The library is basically a Java container for hosting OpenSocial-compliant applications.
It includes components for dealing with gadgets, user requests funneled through a proxy, backend APIs, and so on.
Currently Shindig is a distributed both as an API and as a Web application.
