Apache Commons JCS stands for Java Caching System, and is an older Apache Jakarta project and works on top of the Java Composite Cache.
Because of this, the Commons JCS component can cache data to disk, in memory, laterally in the cluster, and to remote servers.
All of these cache methodologies are thoroughly implemented in JCS and can be deployed to production environments right away.
Apache Commons JCS also comes with powerful memory management features, support for thread pool controls, remote data synchronization and recovery, non-blocking operations, event handling, and can also be extended via plugins.
Many more other features are also supported and the project is highly respected in the Java community being one of the go-to tools when it comes to performance optimizations and speed improvement.
What is new in this release:
- Fixed bug in indexed disk cache. Partial key removal was adding duplicates in the recycle bin. This lead to the multiple keys pointing to the same spot on disk.
