ToroDB mixes the NoSQL and RDBMS design patterns allowing fast data storage of JSON files but all the versatility and query power of classic relational databases.
The database engine was built on the MongoDB protocol which allows it to easily work and interface with data stored as JSON.
On the other hand, because it works on top of a relational database like PostgreSQL, there's an increased stability and performance factor which comes from the many years of development and improvements this project has seen across its years of existence.
JSON documents are also stored in a "relational" manner, not as classic blob objects (like MongoDB does), this feature eliminating most of the duplicate data other NoSQL databases are plagued with.
The final product is a stable database engine that mixes speed and transactional queries providing a high-end product also compatible with any MongoDB client.
