GFeedLine is an open source, simple and easy to use software project that has been designed from the ground up to act as a social networking client on GNU/Linux operating systems.
Supports Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr
At the moment, the application has been designed to support the Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr social networking services. Support for other social networks could be added in upcoming updates of the project.
It’s fully customizable
The application is fully customizable and supports custom themes that are written in the HTML and CSS languages. Themes can be created by users and placed on the ~/.config/gfeedline/theme directory. Read the official documentation for more information.
Designed for the GNOME desktop environment
GFeedLine has been designed for the GNOME desktop environment, but it was successfully tested on any other open source desktop environment where GTK+ and Python exists, such as Cinnamon, LXDE, Xfce and even KDE.
Supports Debian- and Ubuntu-based distributions
Officially supported Linux distributions include Ubuntu and Debian GNU/Linux. You will be able to install the program on any other Linux kernel-based operating system using the source archive or directly from the default software repositories of the respective distro.
Requirements and installation instructions
In order to installation the application, the gschema file must be installed first using the “sudo cp ./share/com.googlecode.gfeedline.gschema.xml.in /usr/share/glib-2.0/schemas/com.googlecode.gfeedline.gschema.xml” and “sudo glib-compile-schemas /usr/share/glib-2.0/schemas” commands in an X11 terminal emulator app.
Then, you can install the program by running the “sudo python ./setup.py install --force” command from the project's folder, or launch it without installation using the “./gfeedline” command.
