yEd

yEd is an open source and powerful graph editor application written entirely in the Java programming language.

yEd makes use of the yFiles library which is a Java class library for viewing, editing, drawing, optimizing, and animating diagrams, networks, and other graph-like structures.

What is new in this release:

• New alignment options in the Balloon style tree layout algorithm.

• Addressed a severe incompatibility introduced with JRE 1.7.0_25 that caused a java.awt.image.ImagingOpException: Unable to convolve src image exception when yEd was run using this JRE version (Windows and Mac OS X systems). • Corrected the resizing behavior of table headers in table/swimlane nodes.
• Fixed an issue in the XSL stylesheet file for importing Ant build files where edges for multiple 'depends' relations were not properly generated. [Q&A 2674]

• Fixed a problem in the 'Current Elements' section of the palette where the currently active default representations of nodes/edges were not properly indicated.

What is new in version 3.10.1:

• This release adds support for touch gestures in user interactions and support for creating connections from edges to other edges. Additionally, it features enhanced possibilities for easy diagram creation from business objects using data binding mechanisms.
• Also contained is a new layout algorithm that can sub-divide a diagram into a set of smaller ones where each fits into a given width and height.

What is new in version 3.91:

• This release adds BPMN 2.0 Artifact and Conversation elements to the palette and enhances Task and Marker support of Activity elements.
• Memory usage has been greatly optimized, and GEDCOM import now also supports reading IDs containing non-alphanumeric characters.

What is new in version 3.9:

• This version introduces new label models that combine free placement with support for interactive snapping and provide convenient label alignment and label auto-rotation support.
• It also brings enhancements to the GEDCOM import to support additional file encodings and auto-import of common data records, and adds new palette symbols from the BPMN 2.0 specification.
• Additionally, the automatic layout now also features a new layout algorithm for flowchart diagrams.

What is new in version 3.8:

• New in this version is initial support for import of shape stencils from Visio0 XML files.
• The yEd Graph Editor manual and a new yEd forum are now available online.

What is new in version 3.7:

• This version brings extensive new support for adding and editing custom symbol palettes and new support for importing symbols from an Internet icon search engine. A powerful new tool enables turning user-defined custom data of graph elements into visual properties like line width, fill color, label text, width, line type, etc.
• Also, a new section in the Palette tool window adds high-quality Entity Relationship symbols and Crow's Foot connections.
