Xfce Taskmanager (xfce4-taskmanager) is an open source and free application specially designed for the lightweight Xfce desktop environment to provide an easy-to-use task manager component, allowing users to monitor their computers at all times.

Monitor running processes

Xfce Taskmanager is engineered in such a way that it allows users to monitor running processes (tasks) and close or kill them when necessary. It also monitors memory and CPU usage, and the treeview columns can be reordered.

Easy to use GUI

The GUI (Graphical User Interface) can be started by running the 'xfce4-taskmanager' command from the Xfce Terminal application or by accessing the Xfce main menu of your GNU/Linux distribution.

The interface is quite easy to use and straightforward. 90% of the main window is occupied by the process view area, where you can view all the running processes of your Linux distribution and interact with them.

Allows you to execute programs

From the toolbar, you can change the application’s preferences, execute programs, view the about dialog, as well as to close the software. Additionally, it displays a status bar that gives you quick statistics about the total number of running processes, as well as CPU and RAM usage. Additionally, two system monitor graphs are also displayed on the main toolbar.

What GNU/Linux OSes are supported?

Xfce Taskmanager is a cross-platform application that supports the Linux, FreeBSD, OpenBSD and OpenSolaris operating systems. It has been successfully tested, and will work with all GNU/Linux distributions where the Xfce desktop environment is available.

Under the hood and availability

The software is written entirely in the C programming language and it’s distributed only as a universal sources archive, which will allow anyone to optimize the application for its Linux kernel-based operating system. Both 32-bit and 64-bit architectures are supported at this time.
