Victory (Strikes Again) is a GTK theme born from Ambiance, though only a few lines from that remain.

Developer comments

The window border included is from Ambience, but with new buttons. Pathbar arrows were born from elementary-mod/elementary. Volume sliders are from New Wave, a theme I have always really liked. So a big thanks to all those who worked on those themes.

How to install?

· Right click on your desktop and select Change Desktop Background
· Click on the first tab: Theme
· Drag and drop the theme's archive in the Appearance Preferences window.
· If everything is OK, you will receive a confirmation message and you can activate the theme just by clicking on it.

About GNOME:

GNOME is an international effort to build a complete desktop environment—the graphical user interface which sits on top of a computer operating system—entirely from free software. This goal includes creating software development frameworks, selecting application software for the desktop, and working on the programs which manage application launching, file handling, and window and task management.

GNOME is part of the GNU Project and can be used with various Unix-like operating systems, most notably Linux, and as part of Java Desktop System in Solaris.

The name originally stood for GNU Network Object Model Environment, though this acronym is deprecated. The GNOME project puts heavy emphasis on simplicity, usability, and making things “just work”.

What is new in version 2010.04.29:

  • The following applications are themed so far:
  • Nautilus 2.28 (2.30 does not theme well! I will work on it.)
  • Nautilus Elementary 2.28 is recommended (2.30 I have not tried, but likely not to work well.)
  • Thunar also recommended
  • PCManFM
  • Exaile
  • Rhythmbox
  • Banshee
  • Totem
  • F-Spot
  • Eye of Gnome
  • Firefox (Does not like themeing!)
  • Google Chrome
  • Things that are not good:
  • Firefox buttons do not match rest of system.
  • Firefox does not honor fixed scrollbar length.
  • This theme is not always very 'keyboard navigation' friendly, I am sorry.
  • Wish scrollbars were not pixmap, but had same look... wish it was a murrine option, then they would not have to be fixed length.
  • Expander triangles - I wish I could pick the fill color. I wish Murrine used triangle expanders.
  • Nautilus 2.30, as noted above, does not theme well! Let me know if Nautilus Elementary is the same. I will put up a new version later for 2.30, but it will not look like 2.28.

Requirements:

  • GNOME
  • gtk+
  • Murrine GTK+ engine
