Vatsinator is an open source, cross-platform and freely distributed application that has been designed from the offset to act as a Vatsim network monitor. It displays logged-in airplane pilots and controllers, and provides airport and weather information, as well as details about all flights from all over the world.

Offers readable and clean information about airports and pilots

Key features include smooth and easy-to-use map scaling and moving, readable and clean information about airports and pilots, as well as easy METAR access for weather reports. The software is highly customizable, allowing users to change view preferences, colors, etc.

View Vataware statistics for a specific pilot

You can also view Vataware statistics for a specific pilot, as well as a list of all flights and ATCs (Air Traffic Controllers). The status of all flights and ATCs is displayed on the status bar in real time, where you can also view how many observers are logged in.

Getting started with Vatsinator

Building and installing Vatsinator on a GNU/Linux operating system, except for the Debian distribution, because the application is distributed as native installed for it, is quite an easy task. Grab the source package from Softoware, save the archive on your Home directory, and unpack it.

Then, open a Terminal app, go to the location where you have extracted the archive file (e.g. cd /home/softoware/vatsinator-0.2.1) and run the ‘cmake .’ command to configure the project, followed by the ‘make’ command to compile it. Install it with the ‘sudo make install’ command.

Runs on GNU/Linux and Microsoft Windows operating systems

After installation, you will find the application on the Internet section of your desktop environment’s Start Menu. Vatsinator is a platform-independent application that supports both Linux and Microsoft Windows operating systems. It can run on 32-bit and 64-bit architectures.
