Keeping up with security updates is a critical part of Mac maintenance. Until recently, Mac users were not automatically notified about new versions of Flash Player. Update Flash Player helps Mac users stay current by checking for Flash Player updates on a regular schedule.
Each time it is opened, Update Flash Player checks for an update to the Flash Player plug-in. When a newer version is found, an alert is displayed prompting users to update. To be effective, Update Flash Player should be installed in the Applications folder and scheduled to run regularly. The program does not run continuously. Instead it checks only when run. When installed in the Applications folder, the program will offer to schedule weekly checks (other intervals can also be chosen.)
This software requires Flash Player to be installed only at its default location, /Library/Internet Plug-Ins/. Manual installation elsewhere is technically possible, but unusual. This software checks only the default location. Update Flash Player requires internet access to the current version listed on the Adobe website. Proxy server authentication is not supported at this time.
