SimpleAudioPlayer

SimpleAudioPlayer is an open source, freely distributed and portable graphical software written in Qt for the KDE desktop environment and designed from the ground up to allow users to easily and quickly open various music files via their default file manager, specifically crafted for Dolphin.

Features at a glance

The application supports both drag & drop and "Open With..." functionality, as well as a wide range of audio file formats, including MP3, OGG Vorbis, WAV and FLAC. In addition, SimpleAudioPlayer supports Audio-CDs and Internet radio streams, which can be recorded and saved locally.

The project is comprised of two small programs, SimpleAudioPlayer and SimpleAudioBrowser. While the former is used for playing audio files, the latter lets users to easily and quickly search and browse music files on their Linux kernel-based operating systems.

Boasts a simple and intuitive user interface

Being designed from the offset to be as simple as possible, the program boasts a simple and intuitive user interface that lists your music file in albums or single entries. A statusbar is provided on the bottom edge of the window, so you can quickly view the total number of songs, selected songs, as well as to filter items.

On the upper part of the window, you will see the main audio controls (play, pause, stop, forward, rewind, skip, shuffle and repeat), the volume control, and the song slider, allowing the user to quickly go back and forward in a track.

Under the hood, supported distros and availability

The software is written entirely in the C++ programming language and uses the Qt GUI toolkit for the graphical user interface. It supports various distributions of Linux, among which we can mention openSUSE, Fedora, Debian GNU/Linux and Ubuntu.

For your convenience, it is distributed as pre-built binary packages for different versions of the aforementioned Linux distros, as well as a universal sources archive, supporting both 32-bit and 64-bit hardware platforms.
