When the user starts an application via the specialized links created by the installation wizard, the application is launched with alternate credentials that is, as if another user account with limited rights and privileges had launched the application. This specialized account created by Safety Net, has limited access rights to the file system and systems registry, and in the case of Internet Explorer, Outlook, or Outlook Express, an additional layer of security is applied to the account with the use of application policies.
