Runtu GNOME is an open source and freely distributed Linux operating system based on the well known Ubuntu Linux distribution and built around the GNOME desktop environment. It has been designed from the ground up for the Russian Linux community.
Availability, boot options, supported architectures and languages
The distribution is available for download as a single Live CD ISO image, supporting both the 32-bit and 64-bit architectures, as well as the Russian and English languages. The ISO image can be deployed on a USB flash drive or written to a blank CD disc.It provides users with the same boot menu that can be found on other editions of the Runtu Linux distribution, which allows them to try the OS without installing anything on their computers, check the disc for defects (only if using a CD media), run a memory test, boot an existing operating system, or install the system without testing it (not recommended).
Traditional desktop environment, great applications
This Runtu edition uses the GNOME desktop environment, which provides users with a traditional graphical session comprised of a single taskbar located on the bottom edge of the screen and used for launching apps and interacting with running programs.Default applications include the Nautilus file manager, GPicView image viewer, Gedit text editor, Midnight Commander two-panel file manager, GIMP image editor, Mozilla Firefox web browser, Pidgin multi-protocol instant messenger, Skype VoIP client, uGet download manager, and Transmission torrent downloader.
