qScreenshot is a cross-platform, free and open source software that has been designed from the offset to allow users to effortlessly create and edit screenshots of their entire desktop or of a specific application. In also lets users to upload their screens to a specified image hosting service.

With qScreenshot you can capture the entire desktop, a custom area or an active window, edit screenshots with the built-in graphical editor, save screenshots to a local drive, open an existing image from the local disk, paste images from the clipboard, and print screenshots.

In addition, the application comes with global hotkeys support, system tray area support, print screen captures, as well as the ability to upload screenshots using a proxy server. It supports popular image hosting services, including ImageShack.us, PiX.Academ.org, Kachalka.com, Img.Flashtux.org, Smages.com, Ipicture.ru and Rghost.ru.

Offers basic image editing functionality

Another interesting features is the built-in image editing functionality, which allows you to rotate, crop and resize screenshots, as well as to add text watermarks and annotations. Screenshots can be saved in JPG or PNG image file formats.

A quick look under the hood will show us that the application is written entirely in the C++ programming language, using the Qt GUI toolkit for its graphical user interface.
