The PassMark BurnInTest optical drive test routine requires a PassMark Test CD/DVD/BD. You can either purchase these discs from PassMark Software or produce your own CD, DVD, and Blu-ray discs using CD-Maker. The advantages of using these discs are twofold. Firstly, discs are pressed rather than burnt. This result in less error and the resulting discs are more reflective (giving a better signal to noise ratio). Secondly, the PassMark test DVD and Blu-ray discs are dual layer discs, while many writeable DVDs and Blu-ray discs, as well as Blu-ray burners, are single layer only. PassMark CD-Maker generates the necessary disk files, through which it is possible for the tester to burn the data CD, DVD and Blu-ray discs with your own optical disc burner.
