Osu! is the PC version of a well-known Japanese rhythm game for the Nintendo DS. Osu! Tatake! Ouedan! challenged you to follow the beat of different songs by tapping with your stylus on the DS screen. It became so popular that they even released an English version called Elite Beat Agents.
Now the game lands on the PC platform with an excellent remake that works exactly the same way as the original title and includes some nice extra tools, like online rankings (which are said to come soon) and a great editor to create your own levels (beatmaps).
The game doesn't actually include any beatmaps: you have to download them from the official forum, which is kind of annoying, but at the same time lets you pick exactly the songs you like. Please read the note below to learn how to install beatmaps properly.
I must say this PC Osu! is way much harder than the original DS title. Playing with the mouse is really not the same as playing with the stylus, so I guess the best option here is to use a digital graphic tablet and pen -if you have one. Leaving that aside, the game has been very well adapted to the new platform, keeping the same level of addiction and extending its gameplay with the possibility to create your own Osu! levels.
Osu! is a must-have for all music games fans: easy, fast, challenging and very fun!
