OpenCoweb is an open source toolkit for creating Web-based applications that allow users to interact with remove data in real-time.
Users can send or receive information via basic AJAX calls coupled with more complex tools like Tornado or CometD.
The framework itself is made up of different parts, each used differently, coded in a different technology, and with its own purpose.
There's a Python server coded on Facebook's Tornado server, there's also a Java server build on CometD, and there's the JavaScript API for managing Coweb events.
All of these put together allow developers to handle both the client and server parts of a real-time application.
To get developers started, documentation, tutorials, and examples are included.
