ODABA is a Terminology-Oriented Database Management System (TODBMS) based on standards and extensions of object-oriented database management group (ODMG 2003). In contrast to other databases that are focused on big data processing, ODABA stands for smart data processing, i.e. it is intended to be used for complex problems and complex data structures in combination with complex processing rules. Besides requirements for object-oriented databases, which belong to the P2 database family (see 'Unified Database Theory'), ODABA also supports several P3 database features (hierarchical set relations). Claiming to be a P3 database, ODABA can be considered as high level intelligent database, which provides a lot of support for application developers and database designers. ODABA supports event driven applications on database level as well as on GUI level. The ODABA GUI framework combines database events and GUI reactions (Active Data Link technology), which provides a comfortable framework for developing GUI applications. In order to support complex schema development, application design, programing and software and database maintenance, ODABA provides a family of rapid application development tools for documentation, design and implementation.

With ODABA Script Interface (OSI), ODABA provides a powerful object-oriented script language, which allows traversing along database instances like accessing hierarchical structures in memory. Syntactical similarities with C++/JAVA allow understanding and learning OSI easily. The combination of weak-typed collection and virtual functions (function overload) offer a new dimension of flexible implementation. Besides simple database applications, OSI may also be used in order to implement event handlers (triggers) for database and GUI (application) events. Thus, OSI becomes a universal implementation language, which may be used in all implementation areas. The latest version of the ODABA has been released on Saturday, January 27th, 2018. With version 15.0.0, ODABA provides full P3 support including aggregation schema support. Withthis version, final conceptual issues of ODABA have been implemented. Further improvements are planned on more technical levels.

What is new in this release:

Version 15.0 extended support for XML and support for defining aggregation views. Performance has been improved concerning OSI and event handling, view checks and debugging features. ODABA functionality as well as ODABAGUI API have been extended and several bugs have been removed.

What is new in version 14.1:

With new version ODABA 14.1 support for database views has been provided. It includes extended view definitions in database schema and ODL, support for statistic object for hierarchical aggregation. Several minor improvements have been made. OSI debugging tools have been improved and several bugs have been fixed.

What is new in version 13.1.1:

Version 13.1.1 may include unspecified updates, enhancements, or bug fixes.

What is new in version 13.0:

With Version 13.0, a new function and event based client/server architecture has been provided for the ODABA API. This include scalability for event handling and functions. Completely new is the versioning support for database instances, collections and relationships. Flexible versioning strategies allow creating data versions according to different application requirements. Database versioning is also supported in ODE tools creating, removing or browsing different project versions. Minor improvements have been made for GUI framework and API. All known bugs from version 12.3.1 have been removed.

What is new in version 12.3.0:

With ODABA 12.3.0, ODABA as well as the ODABAGUI API have been extended in order to support practical requirements resulting from customer project development. Also, OSI functionality has been extended in order to use OSI more comfortable. Additional service classes have been provided for Email and configuration file support. Hierarchical configuration files may be provided now as ini- or xml-file. Default login handlers and procedures have been provided for batch and GUI applications. Tree behavior has been improved and several minor features have been added.
