As its name suggests, Momonga Live CD is a Live edition of the open source and freely distributed Momonga Linux operating system. It has been designed to allow users to try Momonga without installing anything on their computers.

It’s distributed as a 32-bit Live CD

Being designed to run only in live mode, this special Momonga edition is distributed as a Live CD ISO image that contains software packages optimized only for the 32-bit (i686) architecture.

It runs on both 32-bit and 64-bit machines

Despite the fact that it contains software packages optimized only for the 32-bit architecture, Momonga Live CD will run well on both 32-bit and 64-bit machines.

The Live CD boots automatically in live mode

While the Live CD has been designed to automatically start the live system with the default kernel in about ten seconds from the moment the users boots the ISO image from the BIOS of a PC using either a CD disc or a USB stick, you can access advanced boot options like the ability to boot from the local drive or verify the integrity of the bootable medium by pressing any key during the initial boot timeout.

It’s only for Japanese-speaking users

The default language of the Live CD is Japanese. It features the GNOME Classic graphical desktop environment with a two-panel layout, designed from the ground up to be productive and easy to use.

Only a few applications have been included

In order to keep the Live CD as minimal as possible, the Momonga developers included only a few application, among which we can mention the Mozilla Firefox web browser, Sylpheed email client, XChat IRC client, Shotwell image viewer and organizer, Rhythmbox music player, Brasero CD/DVD burning software, Gedit text editor, Nautilus file manager, GParted partition editor and GNOME Disk Utility.
