This update resolves the "Performance Degradation with ADSI" issue in Windows 2000, and is discussed in Microsoft Knowledge Base Article Q274172. Download now to ensure that adding a large number of users through the Active Directory Service Interface (ADSI) will not consume memory resources and decrease performance.
Adding a large number of users through ADSI can cause the Lsass.exe process to grow rapidly and increase memory use, resulting in performance problems. (Lsass.exe is the service responsible for all domain-related functions, such as user logon validation and user-account management.) This update will slow this growth, resulting in less usage of memory resources and better performance.
