LitePad for Windows is a very lightweight text editing program that is meant to replicate the lightweight, nice looking feel of the default Microsoft Windows Notepad, while bringing new and extra features not seen in the original product (for example, a button strip menu) and making it feel more "modern" than the original notepad (which has, for the most part, kept its original design from Windows 1.0 in 1985). In addition, it can open 191 different formats on its own, and plenty more if you used the "All Files" option. LitePad has all of the features found in the original Notepad on Windows, plus more. It also supports several languages including ADA, ACTOR, AMPL, AutoIt V3, BASIC, Batch, B, Brainf**k, Boo, C, C-, C++, C#, CLJ, COBOL, Creative Basic, CSS, D, DarkBasic, DIBOL, E, Erlang, Forton, Fourth, HTML, Java, Javascript, KiXtart, LISP, LUA, Pascal, Perl, PHP, Powershell, Python, R, Ruby, Scheme, SQL, and even more programming languages to come in the following months. Best of all, Litepad is completely free and open source - there is no "free trial", and the program does not have any type of Copyright - you are free to modify, distribute, and even sell variants of Litepad. Another great feature about Litepad is its portability. You can stick it onto any USB stick and put it on even the smallest hard drive partitions thanks to its extremely small size (only 323 KB). It will work on any version ranging from Windows NT 4.0 - Windows 10 Technical Preview and their server variants (works on Windows 98 and Windows ME as well) and coming soon for many other operating systems including Mac OS X, Linux, FreeBSD, Windows 9x, ReactOS, and many more operating systems to come. You can also customize the program to your liking down to changing the background color, font color, and coming soon, themes. The program was coded in Visual Studio 2013 Professional using C#, though some variants may be using C++. Anyone is free to modify the program to their liking as well.
