Linux-on-android is an open source software project with the ultimate goal of helping users to install various Linux operating system into any Android device.
At the moment, Linux-on-android is able to install the following Linux operating systems: Arch Linux, Debian, Ubuntu, Fedora, openSUSE, Kali Linux, and BackTrack.
How does it work? Through a method known as 'chroot', which runs a Linux distribution within a virtual machine on your Android powered phone/tablet.
Therefore, there's no need to install any Linux OS on your Android phone, so you can't damage to your device or overwrite your Android operating system.
