KnowU is a face recognition system in video. Nowadays, the majority of public opinion still conceives Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras as surveillance video system in public spaces (such as mass transit centers): hundreds of cameras are connected to tens of remote monitors controlled by number of security employees. Surveillants pay attention to people, vehicles, objects and suspicious situations to prevent crimes or terrorisms through watching screens. However, human monitoring requires a large number of personnel, resulting in high ongoing costs and questionable reliability due to the attention span of humans decreasing rapidly when performing such tedious tasks. Biometric technologies are regarded as an effective solution to identify or verify the identity of individuals present in a given space or area. Face recognition systems, when used in conjunction with CCTV surveillance video, offer a partially accurate means to identify potential terrorists and criminals.
