KDE DVB-T Recorder is a DVB-T recorder software for KDE. Supports channel scanning, error detection, recording and scheduling of multiple channels with one DVB-T card (if they're on the same frequency), and much more. First version, really experimental.

Developer comments

This is a collection of programs I wrote for my personal use, because I don't like all the other DVB recording programs, including the windows ones of course. Now I have translated it into (bad) english and released it under the GPL in the hope that it will be useful for someone else, however keep in mind that for now this stuff is almost untested consider this a testing release and do not expect it to be 100% working.

Features:

  • one click recording
  • on the fly error detection
  • you can change record length on the fly and add/remove channels on the fly
  • scheduling
  • recording (and scheduling) of multiple channels (if they trasmit on the same frequency) with a single dvb-t card, in a decent way. I mean that, for example, if n channels transmit on frequency x, you can record each one of these channels at the same time, into different files, into different directories, with different start/stop times.
  • channel scanning (not so good for now)
  • logging
  • splitting
  • recording is done in MPEG-TS format. If you don't like this format, use ProjectX and dvdauthor and convert it into a dvd. Recording in MPEG-PS format has no sense in my opinion.
  • dozens of options you can change
  • includes a frontend (REALLY,REALLY experimental) to help cutting spots and making dvds
  • more things

What is new in this release:

  • finally fixed the bug that sometimes caused a segmentation fault when stopping the recording of a single channel (this time I'm sure)
  • fixed a bug that may cause incorrect lock detection when tuning
  • fixed many more minor bugs
  • mpegts2dvd now uses opengl to display video, this means that now it needs opengl and that if you have opengl acceleration it will be way faster then before
  • many changes to mpegts2dvd
  • minor fixes and changes

Requirements:

  • libmpeg2-0.4.x
  • ProjectX (that requires a Java VM)
  • dvdauthor
  • mplex from mjpegtools
