It simulates the animation of writing text in a typewriter and marquee style.
It is smart enough to ticker text from an element heirarchy, inserting elements back into the DOM tree as it needs them.
That means almost any kind of HTML content can be 'tickered'.
Features:
- jTicker can be declared on any element that has children.
- jTicker respects the DOM tree you give it, printing it back out with the same element hierarchy.
- jTicker uses jQuery's events system to respond to "play", "stop" and "control" events.
- jTicker handles any number of alternating cursors (or just one).
- jTicker's cursor container is styleable, using the class .cursor, or define your own jQuery object as a container.
- jTicker is fairly efficient. It makes all the DOM queries it can upon instantiation, and it's fairly well optimised, so it shouldnt tax the browser much at all.
- jTicker uses jQuery's data bucket to store dynamic variables, so you can query ticker to find out what it is doing.
What is new in this release:
- Fixes problem tickering elements that have only one child.
Requirements:
- JavaScript enabled on client side
- jQuery 1.2.3 or higher
Limitations:
- jTicker can't understand text and children at the same level, so to show some text and then a link, the developer has to wrap the text in a span, and then show the link.
