Steppers are usually seen on e-commerce sites, as a quick way of inputting prices, adjusting values, or increasing/decreasing orders.
A stepper usually uses a preset value for increasing or decreasing the help value, usually "1" being the norm, but steppers with custom step values have also been seen around.
To modify the number inside a stepper, the user doesn't have to type in his desired value. He can simply press UO or DOWN on his keyboard and automatically adjust the input value with the step value.
So if inside a field you have 4 and you want to modify it to 7, the user can focus the field and press UP three times.
Simple, fast, and very user friendly. If you like these kind of UI controls, then jStepper is a plugin for you.
With lots of adjustable settings and support for input field limits (lower & upper), jStepper allows developers to create custom step controls to add to their forms.
Demos and docs are included with the jStepper package.
