A drill-down menu is a very large vertical menu that can be displayed in small page areas.
It works by presenting only the top options of the menu at first. When clicking an option, the first level is slid out of view and the second level is brought in with a counter-sliding animation.
This animation sequence is repeated every time the user goes up or down a menu level, giving the illusion of a mobile app-like menu, working inside the menu container.
The jQuery Sliding Menu plugin comes with support for responsive layouts, "Back" buttons, and CSS-based themes.
The plugin can be used as an alternative to the classic "menu-to-dropdown" systems on mobile devices, mainly because the menu keeps its original form and doesn't confuse users with different styles on desktop and mobile versions of a site.
