jQuery Form Validation (or jQuery Validate) works on the client-side, as soon as the user pushes the form submit button and before the data is sent to the server.
The plugin will go through all the form's fields, scan the content users have entered, and check each one against a set of preset rules developers have put in place.
If the entered data fits with all the developer's criteria, then the form data is submitted to the server.
Otherwise, error messages are shown underneath each form field.
WAI-ARIA support is included, along with an easy way to translate the plugin's error messages into other languages.
Built-in validation rules exist for:
- required fields
- email addresses
- ZIP codes
- postal codes
- telephone numbers
- password fields
- URLs
- dates
- years
- numbers
- alphabet characters only
- alpha-numeric characters
- IP addresses
- hex numbers
