The JavaScript/CSS Font Detector will provide true/false answers to various font family names.
Based on these results, developers can code customized responses and replace one font family with another, based on the user's locally installed fonts.
The library can be a real helper for today's practice of using lots of custom Web fonts, detecting when a font is installed locally and using that, or using the Web font or another replacement if not.
