HTMLDOC is an open source, free and easy-to-use graphical application designed to provide a power tool for converting HTML (Hyper-Text Markup Language) documents, as well as entire web pages into PDF (Adobe Portable Document Format), Adobe PostScript (PS), and indexed HTML files.

Can be used as a standalone tool or as a web-based report generation tool

The software lets users to easily and quickly convert HTML files into the aforementioned formats, which are suitable for online printing and viewing. HTMLDOC can be used as a standalone program, as well as a web-based report generation tool in embedded environments or in a batch document processing environment.

Easy-to-use and intuitive Graphical User Interface (GUI)

The project’s graphical user interface (GUI) is easy-to-use and intuitive, allowing users to convert HTML files into said documents formats with a few mouse clicks. A tab-based navigation is used to cycle between it components, such as Input, Output, Page, TOC, Colors, Fonts, PS, PDF, Security, and Options.

Getting started with HTMLDOC

When using the HTMLDOC utility for the first time, users should know that the program will open with the Input tab active, allowing them to choose a document type to convert, which can be a book, continuous or web page, add the files or an URL, browse for a logo image, as well as a title file or image.

Go to the Output tab and make sure that you choose a target directory or file, as well as the output format, which can be HTML, separated HTML, PostScript or PDF. Several output options are also available, such as grayscale, title page or JPEG big images. Press the Generate button to convert the files.

HTML files can be edited in an external editor

Another interesting feature of the HTMLDOC application, is that it allows users to add the path to an external HTML editor software into the Options tab, so they can easily edit converted files. Numerous other options and settings are available.
