HashOver is written in PHP and uses a XML storage engine to store all the comments.

It also uses basic PHP files to store various HashOver general settings, which can be edited by any admin to adapt and integrate the commenting system on any of his sites.

HashOver can be used with classic static sites, or integrated with more complex Web technologies like CMSs, blogs, static site generators, CRMs, ERPs, Intranets, portals, and so on.

Since HashOver doesn't use any SQL database to store content it is much faster than native commenting plugins (WordPress, Drupal, Joomla), and is also a whole lot faster than third-party services like Disqus, Facebook, Google+, or IntenseDebate.
