GNOME To Do is a free and open-source personal task management app designed to seamlessly integrate with the popular GNOME desktop environment for GNU/Linux distributions.

Lists can be local or online

The application presents itself as simple and clean as possible, with all the controls located on the header bar. The default view is lists, and a predefined list called "Personal" will be available for you when you start the app for the first time. You can easily add new lists by clicking on the "New List" botton.

Besides Lists, you can also view Today's taks from the main view, as well as upcoming taks if they were scheduled. It's also possible to add new tasks from the Today and Scheduled views, which will be automatically marked as due for today, but you can easily change that by clicking on the task.

When creating a new list, you can choose to store it locally on your personal computer or online if you have a Google Drive account connected to your GNOME desktop environment. Each list contains tasks, which will be organized alphabetically by default, but you can easily re-arrange them as you like.

Creating and managing tasks

New tasks can be created inside each list just by clicking on the "New task..." field and writing the task's description. Pressing Enter will immediately add the new task to the list. Then, you can click the arrow on the right side of the task to set a due date, set a priority like low, medium or high, and add additional notes.

When inside a list, you can mark individual tasks as done, which will immediately disappear from the list, or press the hamburger menu on the header bar to clear all completed tasks. Additionally, you can set a color for the list by pressing the color button on the header bar. Each list can have its own color, which will be seen on the main view.

The application comes with built-in search functionality that's available only from the Lists view, and it's possible to arrange lists as thumbnails or as a list view. All in all, the GNOME To Do is good for what it does, and users love it because it integrates very well with the GNOME desktop environment and other GNOME apps.

Distributed through the software repositories of popular distros

The application is currently only distributed via the software repositories of various GNU/Linux operating systems, but you can also download the source tarball through our web portal and compile it yourself for your favorite distro. The recommended way to install GNOME To Do is through your distro's repositories, of course.
