Fluid is a realtime fluid-dynamics model and rendering engine that uses OpenGL to create the effect of flowing liquid on your screen.
Each launch of Fluid brings a completely new experience and never-before-seen images based on settings that you control. You can change colors, rendering styles, resolution, and many more options via the preferences sheet.
Fluid is donation-ware. If you continue to use it please pay for it, though we aren't going to force you. It takes time to program things like Fluid for OS X and the only way people are going to continue to do it is if they are supported.
What is new in this release:
- Themes and ColorMaps menus bug in Panther fixed. Now you can get to items in submenus.
- Bug in Background Effects (distort/warp) selection fixed. Now the selection sticks.
- Adding video reflections. Now you can use your iSight or other video feed as the source for the reflection. This is way cool.
- Pathline rendering returns to Fluid
- Added flow controls to the liquid properties tab. This allows manual control of the x and y flow of the liquid.
- Screencapture: You can now save the currently rendered frame by hitting the S key on your keyboard.
- Small rendering speed improvements
- New simulated-LIC (Line Integral Convolution) background effect.
- Theme Server is no longer included in this download (to save bandwidth). It can be downloaded separately.
- We've been waiting on our German and French translations to come from some friends. We gave up. So those localizations are not in this version but will be returning in a small point release as soon as we get the data. If you are interested, we're always looking for people who can translate Fluid into other languages.
