flac2mp3

flac2mp3 project is a tool to convert audio files from flac to mp3 format.

flac2mp3 is free software - you do not have to pay to use it.

However, if you find flac2mp3 useful, you might like to make a donation - I've got four kids to support!

Usage:

./flac2mp3.pl [--quiet] [--debug] [--tagsonly] [--force] < flacdir > < mp3dir >
--quiet Disable informational output to stdout
--debug Enable debugging output. For developers only!
--tagsonly Don't do any transcoding - just update tags
--force Force transcoding and tag update even if not required
--tagdiff Print source/dest tag values if different

What is new in this release:

• Use FLAC MD5 checksum to determine whether or not to transcode the file
• Add "--pretend" option
• Handle multiple tags of the same type, e.g. multiple Artist tags
• Update how command-line switches interact (--tagsonly now overrides --force)
• Write two separate notifications one for transcoding, one for tags
• make file search case-insensitive (.flac and .FLAC)
• only check for ".flac" at the end of the filename
• Fix detection of flac/lame executables
• Add instructions about how to specify flac/lame paths
• Change quoting of flac/lame command
• Change shebang (apparently, env is usually in /usr/bin)

• Transcode to a temp file and rename if successful
• Remove fork/exec code and revert to "system" command.

• flac and lame are run with fork and exec, which fixes any shell quoting issues.
