The Featured Carousel jQuery plugin helps developers fix a problem with image sliders.
Most of these hugely popular UI elements are coded as a collection of HTML tags, all embedded on the same page and all loaded when the page is accessed.
This increases page load times, a crucial metric for good SEO rankings.
To fix this problem, the Featured Carousel plugin lets developers create image slideshows that load the content of each slide via AJAX calls from other locations.
This reduces the page's loading speed by loading only the first slide when the page loads the first time.
The carousel's interface and style are highly customizable since any type of content can be retrieved and embedded on the page inside the carousel slider, the plugin allowing developers to build quite complex content rotators.
It's worth mentioning that there are no next/prev controls, but a navigation system with links to each slide. If you have lots of content his can be detrimental to you, but if not, you can also hack these links to use thumbnail images and you have a thumbnail rotator right under the slider as well.
