CSS Cacheer

The script also caches the image for further usage, avoiding instances where the server recompiles the same image times and times again.

CSS Cacheer looks for image sources inside a CSS stylesheet and if the user's browser supports it, transforms that image into a data:image/png;base64 declaration.

Applied on large stylesheets, it reduces the number of HTTP server requests, all image data residing inside the CSS stylesheet itself.

Other features, inherited from an older project called CSS-SSPP, include server-side imports, variables, constants, bases and nested-selectors.

What is new in this release:

• This update fixes a bug in the Nested Selectors plugin that prevented stylesheets containing quotes (eg. content:".";) from being successfully parsed.

• Apache with mod_deflate and mod_rewrite enabled

Limitations:

• Applicable for small images only.
