ControlByMail provides remote file access and remote control of PCs for people located in internet-restricted environments (such as workplaces and government agencies) who are unable to log in to websites, or use other remote solutions, to accomplish their tasks.
Everyone, not just internet-restricted users, can actually benefit from ControlByMail. Due to using email to carry out their tasks, it isn't blocked by firewalls or affected by other security measures. Users just send emails to download files from their home PC, send DOS commands to it, get webcam and desktop images, remotely reboot, and perform scripted keystrokes and mouse clicks.
Emails are secure. All your emailed commands are sent with one-time passwords for authenticated remote access, which means nobody else can send an email to remotely access or control your home PC. Also, email means that keyloggers can't record your typing, and there's no live remote connection that can be hacked.
What is new in this release:
Version 1.05:
- Added: The EULA has been modified to permit use of ControlByMail at work for private use only.
- Added: "webcam" command to get a webcam snapshot (the "state" command no longer includes it).
- Enhanced: The OTP can go anywhere in the subject field now, instead of as just the subject text alone.
- Enhanced: The "send" command now returns an error message if the requested item isn't a file or folder.
- Enhanced: The "state" command now includes the remote PC's local time and date (useful for travelers).
- Enhanced: The "state" command now includes the handle (hWnd) of the active process, should you need it.
- Fixed: The webcam snapshot filename extension is now JPG instead of PNG.
- Fixed: In rare circumstances, the SMTP check would report success when it should have reported failure.
