Comfusion

Comfusion (formerly Uberyl) is an open-source distribution of Linux based on the world’s most popular free operating system, Ubuntu and built around the famous Compiz Fusion technology for providing users with astonishing desktop effects.

The OS is distributed as a dual-arch Live DVD

The operating system is distributed as a dual-arch Live DVD ISO image, compressed as a 7z archive that includes the MD5 file and a PDF document with detailed instructions about how to use the distribution.

Features a dual-language boot prompt

The distribution features a boot prompt that is supported in two languages, English and Spanish. It allows the user to try the operating system in persistence mode, which means that it will save all files modified or downloaded during the live session on the bootable medium (only if using a USB drive), or in compatibility mode.

In addition, it is possible to start the installer directly and permanently install the operating system on a local drive, check the integrity of the bootable medium (only if using a DVD disc) or boot an existing OS from the first disk drive detected by the BIOS.

The graphical desktop environment is attractive and easy to use

LXDE (Lightweight X11 Desktop Environment) is in charge of the graphical session inside Comfusion, comprised of a panel located on the bottom edge of the screen and a dock (applications launcher) on the right side of the screen.

Includes a great selection of applications

Comfusion includes a great selection of applications, among which we can mention the Audacious audio player, Mozilla Firefox web browser, GNOME MPlayer video player, Gnumeric spreadsheet editor, Pidgin multi-protocol instant messenger, Leafpad text editor, and Mozilla Thunderbird email and news client.
