Australis Mate 64

As its name suggests, Australis Mate 64 is an open source distribution of Linux, a special edition of the Australis Linux OS designed for 64-bit computers and using MATE, a clone of GNOME 2 (GNOME Classic), as its default and only desktop environment. It is based on the Ubuntu Linux operating system.

The distribution is available for download as a 64-bit Live DVD ISO image, designed from the ground up to work only on 64-bit (x86_64) computers, despite the fact that it supports both 32-bit and 64-bit applications.

The boot options are pretty standard

Being based on Ubuntu, Australis Mate 64’s boot screen is pretty standard, designed to allow users to easily start the live environment with default options or in safe graphics mode, perform a fresh install, run a memory test, as well as to boot an existing OS from the first disk drive.

Modern and gorgeous graphical session powered by MATE

When booting the live environment with default settings, the system will load the graphical session immediately. It uses the ultra fast and traditional MATE desktop environment with a gorgeous layout comprised of a top panel and a bottom dock. A dark theme is used for the entire graphical environment, including the dock (application launcher).
