Slow out of the gate, but this is a small backround menubar application that will check with Apple's website every 5 minutes, and display the current number of iTunes songs sold in Apple's iTunes Music Store. This might help in placing orders closer to the each remaining 100-thousand mark...
Thanks to Jason Marr, who wrote an excellent tutorial on writing this sort of application using NSStatusItem (http://www.cocoadevcentral.com/articles/000052.php). This application is derived from much of the code in that tutorial.
What is new in this release:
As of 11/27/2004, the complete source code is now available for download (as a zipfile containing the complete Xcode project) at http://eklektion.dyndns.org/100MilCounter/. It is free of charge and all I ask is if you find it useful, drop me an email. Thx.
Changes in v1.0.2:
- Now uses Apple's latest javascript location to get the number
- Connects to Apple's site only every 5 minutes
- Added indicator to show time until next scheduled update
- Fixed bug where app. would not recover if network was temporarily unavailable
