Contenido

Contenido is an open source CMS (Content Management System) for the Web, written using the JavaScript and PHP scripting/server-side programming languages. It feature advanced user management and an intuitive, simple and fast user interface.

Features at a glance

Key features include support for in-site editing, a WYSIWYG (What-You-See-Is-What-You-Get) editor, it’s easy-to-use and extendable through modules, it doesn’t require any license costs, and has been successful in the CMS market for over 10 years.

The application relies on a wide variety of open source projects, such as CodeMirror, IDNA Converter, jQuery, jQuery timepicker addon, jQuery UI, Pseudo-Cron (Cron-Emulator), Smarty, SwiftMailer, TinyMCE, tipsy, facebook style tooltips for jquery, Valums AJAX Upload, and Valums File Uploader.

This web application can be easily used by anyone to quickly and effortlessly deploy a website in minutes. It has been tested with various modern web browsers, including Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer, Opera, Google Chrome, Chromium, and Safari.

Getting started with Contenido

It’s easy to deploy Contenido on your web server, as all you have to do is to download the latest version from Softoware or via its official website (see like at the end of the article), save the archive on a location of your choice, and extract its contents with your favorite archive manager utility.

Then, open a FTP client and connect to your server, where you will upload all the Contenido files and folders. Access the setup folder from a web browser to start the installation. Detailed installation instructions are always available at https://docs.contenido.org/display/CONE or in the docs folder inside the source archive.

Supported operating systems

Being a web-based application, Contenido is independent of an operating systems. After it is deployed on the cloud, you can access it from any computer or mobile operating system, including Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X, BSD, Solaris, Android, iOS, BlackBerry, or any distribution of Linux. It has been successfully used on 64-bit and 32-bit hardware platforms.
