Novel Moonlight is an open source implementation of the powerful Microsoft Silverlight for Unix systems.
The goals are:
· To run Silverlight applications on Linux.
· To provide a Linux SDK to build Silverlight applications.
· To reuse the Silverlight engine we have built for desktop applications.
What is new in this release:
- This release should be considered alpha quality. There are various new subsystems in Silverlight 3 (e.g. pixel shaders, local messaging, the client http stack) which expose new and different attack vectors, and the implementations of these subsystems have not yet been exercised or audited.
- As such we recommend that you should only use this plugin on trusted sites (e.g. internal or well-known web sites) on non-production computers. This situation will gradually evolve over the beta releases.
What is new in version 2.0 Beta 2:
- ComboBox fixes involving the switching between the various item templates
- ContentControls will now use the ContentTemplate if ControlTemplate is null
- Various TemplateBinding fixes
- Layout fixes dealing with Grid, Shapes, and MediaElements.
- Animations (particularly when multiple animations target the same DO, as happens in VisualStates)
- TextBox event ordering/behavior
- Text layout and word-breaking fixes
- Font extents are now calculated using the same algorithm as silverlight, so text lines up even better
- various parser fixes for interesting cases found in the wild
- a lot of memory leak/corruption fixes
- lots of improvements in A11y from the UIA team
What is new in version 1.0 Final:
- Final release of Moonlight 1.0
- Support for the Microsoft Media Pack
- Quick and easy installation of media codecs
- Several media related bug fixes
Requirements:
- Firefox 1.0 - 3.0.*
- Gtk >= 2.0
- Alsa
- ffmpeg
- Mozilla NSPR
- Mozilla NSS
- Mozilla XPCOM
- Mono
