Designed to be easy to use, Guardia is a self contained time-lapse image and movie generation suite for USB cameras. It supports low and high resolution cameras such as web-cameras and mega-pixel USB cameras. The Guardian timer function uses image comparison to trigger the saving of imagery in a time-lapse fashion. Example users of this suite include scientists and engineers who want to study long lived phenomena such as crystal growth, material engineers who want to preform inspections of processes allowing them to detect defeats while production is underway, and security personnel who want to monitor and record events in protected areas at select time intervals. There are several time lapse timers for the control of taking time-lapse imagery which are included in Guardian. The Simple Timer utilizes a set time interval to acquire and save imagery. The versatile Calendar Timer is used for long period time-lapse studies. The Interactive timer allows users to input time brackets, allowing for input times when events are actually happening, for example during weekdays, and disabling the timer over weekends. The Staggered timer allows the user to obtain a sequence of images in staggered steps of time in one minute intervals. Guardian also has a Snap image function for stop animation digital photography allowing for animated time lapse videos. As with our more sophisticated software suites, Guardian includes our Image File Player and Image Folder to AVI movie convertor. The user also has control over how many images are taken per time interval that is set in the program.
