Bitnami ownCloud Module is a multiplatform and freely distributed software project, a module that can be used on top of a Bitnami LAMP Stack installation, specially designed for the ownCloud software. It is supported on GNU/Linux, Mac OS X and Microsoft Windows operating systems.
What is ownCloud?
ownCloud is an open source DIY (Do It Yourself) cloud server software that runs on your own personal server. It includes amazing features, such as a modern user interface, versioning and encryption support, as well as a powerful plugin architecture.
Installing Bitnami ownCloud Module
The ownCloud module from Bitnami is distributed as native installers, which have been engineered to run on any Linux kernel-based operating systems, supporting both 32-bit and 64-bit instruction set architectures.
To install ownCloud on your LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP) server stack, download the package that corresponds to your computer’s hardware architecture, run it and follow the instructions displayed on the screen.
Run ownCloud on the cloud or virtualize it
Besides installing ownCloud on top of your Bitnami LAMP stack, you can virtualize it using the virtual appliance created by Bitnami for the Oracle VirtualBox and VMware ESX/ESXi virtualization software, based on the latest LTS (Long Term Support) release of Ubuntu Linux.
Additionally, you can run ownCloud on the cloud, thanks to the pre-built cloud images offered by Bitnami for the popular Amazon EC2 and Windows Azure cloud hosting providers. A Docker container will also be available on the project’s site.
