Bitmami MEAN Stack is a unique, free and cross-platform software project that provides an all-in-one, native installer, which can be used to easily and quickly deploy a fully working mongoDB development environment on real hardware.

Why is the MEAN stack so unique?

Because it always includes the latest stable versions of the mongoDB database, Node.js JavaScript platform, Express framework, Git version control, Angular JavaScript Framework, RockMongo MongoDB administration tool and PHP server-side scripting language, offering you one of the best ways to deploy the aforementioned software on your GNU/Linux servers.

Installing Bitmami MEAN Stack

As mentioned, Bitmami MEAN Stack is available for download as native installers that can be used on any GNU/Linux distribution, as well as on the Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X operating systems, supporting both 32-bit and 64-bit architectures. To install it, download the binary package that corresponds to your computer’s hardware architecture, run it and follow the on-screen instructions.

Deploy your own MEAN server in the cloud or virtualize it

Bitmami also users to deploy their own MEAN servers in the cloud, using the pre-build cloud images designed for Amazon EC2 and Windows Azure cloud hosting services. In addition, you can virtualize MEAN by using Bitmami’s virtual appliance, which is based on the latest stable release of the Ubuntu Linux operating system and designed to work with Oracle VirtualBox and VMware ESX/ESXi virtualization software.

The Bitmami MEAN Module

At the moment, Bitmami does not provide users with a Bitmami MEAN Module product, simply because the software included in this package cannot be deployed on top of a LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP), WAMP (Windows, Apache, MySQL and PHP) or MAMP (Mac, Apache, MySQL and PHP) stack. However, a MEAN Docker container will be available on the project’s homepage, free of charge.
